I bought the McDonald's reskin of this game, Ronald's War.
Sounds like it needs a basic and advanced rules whith options, apparently this wes 28 years n development 🌊
@@BrianMarcus-nz7cs I know he was at it a long time.
Perhaps Off Topic, but if I were forced at gun point to choose a "likeable" General from Nazi Germany, I think Rommel would probably be the one that I'd choose. He refused to join the Nazi party. And there are mixed opinions whether he actually was involved with Operation Valkerie (spelling) the plan to assassinate Hitler, but it would not surprise me if he was.
The way I see it Columbia Games does this block system in a much better way but that just me 😊 I am a HUGE fan of Columbia Games
@@patrickols Columbia Games is great. Worthington has done some great block wargames as well.
Agree with you to a large extent about the deterministic combat in this one... but... the fact that you keep the 'strength' of your units concealed until the battle (although not always the number of them of course) does add an interesting element in its favour!
@@leemarriott7961 Agreed, and I really like the emphasis on maneuver. But I’m generally not a fan of deterministic combat.
What is your current favorite North African game? After you get to play Axis & Allies North Africa and do a review how about a best of North Africa games video?
@@robertthurman9866 Looking forward to AA North Africa. I don’t know that I’ve played ten games specifically about North Africa. Song for War is a Med theater game, but it is really good - watch out for when it comes back to Kickstarter.
Tack för programmet cody mer rommel och Afrika kåren det gillar jag
Glad att hjälpa. Det är ett intressant spel.
Gesundheit!
Why was Rommel said to have been the leader of a zombie desert army ? .. ... ... ... ... Because he was the head of the Afrika Corpse.
Ha! I can't tell you how hard it is to get my students to pronounce it "core."
@TheDiscriminatingGamer 🐦Korr 🐬
🐬 khody bud does this game include the u boot campaign in any form , might b able to pick this up for a song , thanks 🐦🪶
It's been too long since I played it. I don't recall. If it has something about U-Boats its pretty abstracted.
WHOS RAY WHATS GOING ON I FEAR CHANGE When are you reviewing Connect Four?
We are all still trying to figure out who this Ray guy is. 😊
Great game! Thx for the review!
@@cuentosparatodos6755 Happy to help.
Oh man, that looks great! Somehow I've missed hearing about this. I have a question for you guys, I know I've not seen all of your videos yet, but I don't recall seeing one on the first or second edition of Duel of Ages. Have you done one? If not, are you considering doing one on them as I'd like to see an episode on each of them.
@@rickherrick8367 I haven’t done a video review for Duel of Ages 2, but years ago I wrote a review for a newspaper.
The game is great. I have not done anything on DoAI or DoAII other then a DoAII foam insert video. I know both of those version are out of print and hard to get and there are no plans to reprint them so I do not have any plans to do anything further with them. Thank you.
Good job Ray. Do more of this.
@@robertthurman9866 Thanks!
Thank you. I will talk with Cody about doing more of these.
Love Star Wars Rebellion at all player counts.
Just two player for me.
Just got this one and pre-ordered the North Africa one.
Looking forward to that one as well.
Imagine, that Germany never paid Poland for all those monstrosities. Russia on behalf of Poland, which it ruled at that time, renounced any claims. Germany received prize, that was Marshall Plan and Poland didn't even get any compenstation. For example Jewish people received a new country, Israel. What a sad history for Poland.
@@tomchester3229 Not good.
Thanks!
@@ohadleichter4838 Thank you, sir! Much appreciated.
I’m interested in this one
@@jamielehn6926 It’s a great game.
If you had to choose between two versions, which one would you choose? Anniversary or 1940 Europe 2nd? Which one plays the most balanced?
@@herrmatash3116 It really depends on whether you want a Euro focused game or global game. As far as balance, I think they both do a good job. Sorry I can’t be more help.
Atlantic chase is awesome for solitaire
Indeed.
Can the miniatures be removed from their clear bases with the sticks on?
I don't believe so.
Yeah, an expert historian like fauMchy is an expert. Guess some ppl never wake up. And never read old books. Good stuff tho.
@@pingpong4811 Thanks.
Another good one is Avalon hills American civil war 1983. It's definitely a more detailed game. I think that's why I enjoy it. It has fort battles, normal battles, cavalry, naval battles and is the only ACW board game I know that extends all the way to new Mexico and Texas. But its not everyone's cup of tea as it takes forever to complete and set up haha.
Sounds like a bear - but fun.
My group still needs to find time to play that. 😂 and we don't have that much games to play.
I hope you get a chance.
So, where mosaic fits in this list, and Civ New Dawn with expansion?
Perhaps its time to update this list.
Adding the word “evocative” to my TDG drinking game.
@@90rightangle2 ha!
Great review and expansion... especially as I play orange! 😊
@@MisterAbysmul thanks!
Looks wonderfully 'broad' and multifaceted. Been curious about this for a long time but daunted by the depth. I found your thoughtful review Very helpful. Thank you.
Happy to help!
I think you have the rule about blind drawing wild cards wrong, or it is a different rule for this map.
@@davidkeough8583 I don’t have the rules in front of me right now. What do you think I got wrong?
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer if you blind draw a locomotive first you can still take a second card instead of just one.
@@davidkeough8583 Yeah, I don’t think you can.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer that is a subtle rule change that I would have missed! Thank you for the review and I look forward to getting my copy.
I think Oathsworn, Android Netrunner Revised Core, Bloc by Bloc 3rd ed, and Vampire: Chapters Montreal would be on my list somewhere.
@@joeymcjoeysalot6596 Excellent. Thanks.
Tanks-giving Turkey. I'm impressed - that's a granddad-level dad joke
@@Enfors I do what I can.
Me and my friends played Cthulhu:DMD 2 out of the last 3 weeks when we gathered. We aboslutely love it. The score is 3:1 for bossess (3 games with Yog-Sothoth). Last night we managed to put Hastur to 6 hp in his final stage and he nuke us all. Its so fun. You discuss tactics, movement, where to go, what to trade, etc. One of my friends couldnt use his ability because we were pushing ALL the cultists and disciples into his zone. Was fun. Cannot wait to play more of it, we have 3 more episodes, 2 more bossess and 1 more season to finish (with 6 new episodes and 10 new investigators)
@@rosenkrustev1514 Great Game!
Eldritch Horror is my favourite
@@scifigeezer5271 Great Game - great cover!
Iron, Blood, Snow & Mud's cover is nice enough to frame.
Yes it is!
How is this game for board gamers who don't play war games?
@@westcoastavengers1 It’s not really a war game per se, it’s a COIN game. I imagine there’s a bit of a learning curve, but I think you’ll really like it.
Columbia seems to be the top block game specialist publisher! Have you tried any VentoNuovo?
I have not but I've heard good things.
Great list. I would only switch Scythe with My Father's Work.
@@christopherwilson2606 Fair Enough
I wish I had people to play war room with...

Cool video--Academy games any of the Birth of America Series should be in the running as well--1754 is my favorite.
Some great artwork there, for sure. Thanks.
I'm in doubt if i should buy this one or People Power
I haven't played People Power. Looks good.
I never played it, but I think that "Abyss" cover is just magnificent 😍😍
@@francklecaron9097 Indeed.
Possibly too cutesy for this channel but I love the Everdell box art (and art in general).
Too cutesy, indeed! Thanks!
I love alternate history art of Jakub Rozalski (Scythe ) and Simon Stålenhag (Tales of the Loop) both are superb illustrators . I agree Fury of Dracula 2nd edition captures the essence of the game. I have a soft spot for Avalon Hill Dune original art but also like the new stylised art of the Gale Force Dune
Yeah, GF9's Dune is a great design.
I can't believe the cover for FFG's Rex (the Dune reskin) didn't make it on this list! 😡 You are dead to me now. Salman 😉
